Here’s what I learned about Web-Design by going on a trip

I recently went on a trip to Delhi, to meet my grandparents. It was a fun trip and was about 3 days long. That’s the main reason I didn’t post anything to facebook, twitter, or anywhere else. I was like, disconnected. And, that disconnection taught me some things about web-design that I’m going to share right now.

This trip was really enjoyable. There was nothing to worry. No E-mails, blog posts, tweets, status updates, images, etc. So, without further ado, let’s get into it.

#1: YOU NEED TO HAVE SOME BREAKS

You are not a robot. You cannot work forever. You need to have some breaks in between. And, as many people have always said, take it easy.

Yes, you need to have breaks or else, you’ll die. Never think that you can web-design for an infinite amount of time. At least, that’s what I have learned.

#2: YOU CANNOT DO EVERYTHING ON YOUR OWN, YOU NEED A TEAM

This is what I came to know when I was on the trip. When there was no one to look after the things when I was not present. That’s what I learned – I need a team. And, you do as well.

So, start making a team. Have someone who is better at UX   or navigation, or maybe, responsive design. And, remember, you cannot do everything on your own.

#3: YOU CAN FIND INSPIRATIONS EVERYWHERE

This is also another true statement. Go out for a walk or a museum or something, and you’ll see that you’ll have design inspirations everywhere. Those tiny little things can give you some great ideas.

The same is for Web-Designers. Check out a magazine, and see how they do their arrangements and learn from them. And, don’t just learn, apply it. And, you’ll become better.

#4: CONNECTING WITH OTHERS IS VITAL

You can never grow in a vacuum. That’s so true. Until you know people, until you have connections, you can never grow. And, how will you, when you don’t know anybody ?

That’s something to be answered. So, you, web-designer, go out and make connections. And, it’s preferred that they should be offline, because there’s when you’ll have maximum interaction. (By the way, also, don’t be a nerd)

#5: WEB DESIGN ISN’T JUST ABOUT WEBSITES

Yes, it’s not just websites, it’s much more. It’s also about the experiences that you have and the way you make your visitors feel when they visit your site. So, make that connection. Don’t just make a website.

So, don’t just sit there, feel the design. Craft it. Don’t just create.

WRAP-UP

So, these are the things that I learned about web-design while I was on a trip. I was unconnected to the internet. No social networks, no e-mails, no nothing. So these are the things I felt from the inside.

So, what have you learned from these ? Have you gone to an unconnected to the internet trip ? Share your experiences in the comments.
